Basic rules of kitchen safety
Cooking is a fascinating and interesting task, but we should not forget that the kitchen can be one of the most dangerous environments, especially for children. Sharp objects such as knives, hot and flammable objects such as gas and ovens, electrical appliances and even bacteria can be dangerous in the kitchen. Therefore, observing the basic rules and principles of kitchen safety should be a priority for all of us. Always pay close attention while cooking in the kitchen, as the slightest mistake can turn into a serious injury or accident.
To prevent this from happening, you need to always pay full attention to the work in the kitchen and have a plan for cleaning it. You should also always pay attention to the presence of people in the kitchen. For example, children should never be left alone in the kitchen!
- Place knives and sharp objects in a wooden drawer or block. Make sure the knives are not accessible to children.
- Never cook with loose clothing and if your hair is long, be sure to tie it behind your back. Definitely no one wants their clothes on fire or hair in their food.
- Do not wear jewelry when cooking. For example, your bracelet can get stuck in the handle of the pot and cause an accident.
- The handles of pots and pans on the gas should not be facing outwards. Because in this case, the hands of children can reach it and adults may also hit it.
- Do not leave food that is sensitive to air temperature (such as meat, fish and dairy) in the kitchen environment and be sure to refrigerate it immediately.
- If the kitchen floor gets dirty for any reason (such as spilling a drop of water or food), clean it immediately. The kitchen floor should not be wet so that no one slip on it.
- Wash your hands before cooking.
- Lastly, make sure you have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and learn how to use it.
